若い漁師浦島太郎は、ある日、浜で子どもにいじめられている子ガメを助けてやった。
すると、漁に出た海でカメの親が現れ、子ガメのお礼にと、太郎を海の底深くの竜宮城へ連れて行く。
竜宮城では美しい乙姫さまが出迎え、太郎をいたれりつくせりもてなしてくれた。
そのあまりの楽しさに、太郎は時のたつのもすっかり忘れてしまう。
やがて、故郷が恋しくなり、乙姫さまに別れを告げて、浜に戻った太郎がそこで見たものは…。
