六代目山口組・司忍組長収監中の平成二十年十月に発生した後藤組・後藤忠政組長の除籍処分は、
「山口組再分裂か?」と思わせる緊迫した状況を生み出した。
組内で抜きん出た存在感を発揮する大物組長の処分だけに、これを擁護する面々が連名で
処分撤回と執行部批判の怪文書を出して叛旗を翻したのだ。
一気に緊迫の度を深める山口組。しかし、執行部は果断な処置をもって、またたくうちにこの混乱を収めた。
その先頭に立ち辣腕を振るったのは高山若頭だった。
