STORY

On a wall-mounted electronic calendar, the word "IMPORTANT!" is flashing.
I think vaguely, "What day is it today?"
The thought passes like a Gaussian blur. I see someone in sight.

"Good Morning, breakfast is ready."
"Morning, Rick. What's today, again...?"
"Today is Christmas Eve."

The date shown on the calendar is December 24th.
