その者は神にも悪魔にもなれると言われる。
文書に込められた意味と意図を具現化し、
己の望むままに操る魔術師。
古代の英雄も
神話の神々も
おとぎばなしの邪悪な龍も
あるいは創世の天変地異ですら
文字として書きとめられたものであれば
一切の例外なく、喚び出し、使役する。
人間の想像が及ぶ限り、不可能は無い。

ゆえに人々は
それを弱者のために使った者を『神』と称え
それを私欲のために使った者を『悪魔』と恐れ
そして、才覚を持ちながら、いまだ覚醒に至らぬ者を

『薄幸なる者(オフスタット)』

と呼んだ。
