When Kazuya encounters Maria on the battlefield, he tries to abandon the match because he can't fight a nun, but she won't allow it. This is because it is necessary for her to "purify" Kazuya of original sin.

Maria:
A nun belonging to the church of Thanatos.
Part of her doctrine is using martial arts to bring people to salvation, and she uses choking techniques to purify her opponent.
During battle, she can draw a magic circle on the ground to increase her athletic ability by several times.

Maria is good at all kinds of ground fighting, and during matches she likes to lubricate her body with holy oil (aphrodisiac lube), which counters her opponent's attacks. She then uses her strangling techniques and aphrodisiacs to bring her opponent down.
Her signature move, "Rosary Hold", is based on a rear triangle choke, making it extremely difficult to escape.
Not only that, but Maria's body is strengthened by the power of the magic circle, and her opponents arms are often broken by that power, making escape almost impossible.
